60 South Korean Workers Evacuate from Iraq Amid Middle East Conflict

Seoul: A total of 60 South Korean corporate workers based in Iraq have been evacuated to safety amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the foreign ministry announced on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the workers departed Iraq for neighboring countries, including Kuwait, Turkey, and Jordan, between March 18 and Sunday. This evacuation occurred following advice from the South Korean Embassy in Iraq, which provided assistance through its staff to ensure the safe departure of these nationals.

Additionally, three more South Koreans left Lebanon for Turkey last Friday, as South Korea continues to evacuate its nationals from the increasingly volatile Middle East region. Since the outbreak of the conflict, an estimated 1,500 South Koreans have been evacuated from the area with assistance from the foreign ministry.
