N. Korea’s Kim Welcomes Belarusian President Lukashenko in Pyongyang

Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has welcomed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Pyongyang, marking the Belarusian leader's first official visit to the North. The visit was highlighted by a ceremony held at Kim Il Sung Square, as reported by North's state media on Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the welcoming ceremony took place on Wednesday, coinciding with Lukashenko's arrival for a two-day official visit at Kim Jong-un's invitation. Both North Korea and Belarus have been supporting Russia in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine, with North Korea providing troops and weapons and Belarus allowing its territory to be used by Moscow.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim Jong-un met Lukashenko and welcomed his visit to North Korea. During the visit, discussions between Kim and Lukashenko are expected to focus on exploring ways to cooperate in various fields.
