SEOUL, South Korea - Netflix announced on Friday that South Korean actor So Ji-sub has been cast in a new action series, marking another addition to the streaming service's growing roster of original content from the country.
According to a new release by Yonhap News Agency, So Ji-sub will play the lead character, Nam Ki-jun, in the series titled "Gwangjang," which translates to plaza in English. The series is based on a webtoon of the same name. Nam Ki-jun is a former gangster with formidable physical fighting skills who returns to the criminal underworld to avenge the death of his brother, Ki-seok. The role of Ki-seok will be played by Lee Joon-hyuk, known for his work in "The Roundup: No Way Out."
The series will be directed by Choi Sung-eun, who previously worked on the action series "Tong: Memories," another show adapted from a digital comic. Further details about the production have not yet been disclosed, according to Netflix.
