Anti-Trump Protesters and Police Clash as South Korea-U.S. Summit Commences

Gyeongju: Activists protesting against U.S. President Donald Trump during his visit to South Korea for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation gathering clashed with police as they attempted to enter the main venue of Trump’s summit with President Lee Jae Myung.

According to Yonhap News Agency, around 70 anti-U.S. protesters participating in a rally in the southeastern city of Gyeongju broke through a police barrier and advanced approximately 100 meters outside the Gyeongju National Museum. This museum was the location of Trump’s meeting with President Lee Jae Myung.

No injuries were reported during the altercations, although physical clashes occurred between police and protesters. The protesters were seen holding banners reading “No Trump.” In response to the protests, police set up a roadblock using police cars on the road leading to the museum as a precautionary measure.
