National cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang succeeded in reaching the semifinals of the men's keirin event at the UCI Track Cycling World Championship at Lee Valley Velopark, Stratford, London, on Sunday.

Earlier, during the first elimination round, he had only managed third placing and had to go through the repechage round to book his berth in the semis.

He beat Andre Vinokourov (Ukraine), Jacob Schmid (Australia) and Hersony Canelon (Venezuela) in the repechage round.

His competitors in the semifinals are Sergii Omelchenko (Azerbaijan), Francois Pervis (France), Yuta Wakimoto (Japan), Maximilian Levy (Germany) and Im Chae-bin (South Korea).
