According to a new release by Yonhap News Agency, The incident occurred in waters approximately 22 kilometers north of the port of Jeju at around 2:30 p.m.
The Coast Guard conducted a rescue operation using a helicopter, successfully rescuing the seven other sailors on board. The captain was discovered inside the steering room during the operation but died while being transported to the port.
Of the rescued sailors, two were taken to the hospital for medical attention, while the remaining five were able to return home, the Coast Guard stated.
