Cho Kyu-sang, 44, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Korea, has been named Daimler Truck Korea’s new CEO, Mercedes- Benz said Monday.
Cho who has been leading the service and parts division of the German luxury carmaker will be the first Korean to have the top job among all Daimler affiliates.
He will take office July 1
“With abundant experience gained in Service amp Parts at Mercedes-Benz Korea as well as his passion and outstanding leadership acquired through various milestones in his responsible fields, I believe Cho has been a great inspiration and also set an example to executives and staff at Daimler entities in Korea,” said Britta Seeger, CEO at Mercedes-Benz Korea, conveying the significance of this appointment.
“I am extremely delighted to see the first Korean president to be appointed. Let us continue to provide support to more Korean employees to become executives and establish successful careers,” she added.
Cho started his career at Renault Samsung Motors in 1996, before moving to Scania Korea where he worked as Technical amp Training manager between 2000 and 2005. He joined Mercedes-Benz in 2005 and was promoted to Service amp Parts vice president in 2013.
Among other achievements, he was credited with establishing the Parts Distribution Center and customized after sales service My Service, here, substantially promoting customer satisfaction with the German brand.
Meanwhile, Cho’s predecessor Dr Rainer Gaertner will leave to take the position of President and CEO at Daimler Trucks and Buses China
