Choi Sang-mok Prioritizes Inflation Stabilization as Finance Minister Nominee

Seoul: In his latest statement, Finance Minister nominee Choi Sang-mok has emphasized stabilizing inflation as his primary focus, indicating a positive outlook for South Korea's economy in the coming year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, who previously served as the senior presidential secretary for economic affairs, the current government has been vigorously working to reduce inflation, which has been a significant challenge amidst difficult circumstances both domestically and internationally. Choi, in his written response to opposition lawmakers ahead of his confirmation hearing, projected a decrease in inflation to the 2 percent level next year, following a reduction to the 3 percent level this year from 5.1 percent last year. He expressed his commitment to addressing the inflationary stabilization trend as soon as possible.
