Dodgers’ Kim Hye-seong Set for Minor League Rehab Assignment

Los angeles: Out since late July with shoulder inflammation, Kim Hye-seong of the Los Angeles Dodgers will begin a rehab assignment in the minor leagues this week. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts informed reporters Sunday (U.S. local time) that Kim will join the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets this week to evaluate his left shoulder in a game scenario. Reports indicate that the South Korean rookie successfully took live batting practice on Sunday without issues.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim was placed on the injured list (IL) with left shoulder bursitis on July 29. Kim, who bats left and throws right, had been experiencing left shoulder pains for several days, which impacted his swing before his IL designation. His performance in June concluded with a .383/.425/.543 line, but his numbers dropped to .193/.207/.211 in 21 games in July before his sidelining, including a 2-for-12 slump with nine strikeouts over his last five games.

Kim joined the Dodgers in January after an eight-year stint in the Korea Base
ball Organization. He revamped his swing during spring training and started the regular season in Triple-A before being promoted on May 3. In 58 games, Kim has achieved a .304/.338/.406 line with two homers, 15 RBIs, and 12 steals. He is tied for second on the Dodgers in steals with Andy Pages, who has participated in 62 more games than Kim.

The versatile defender has accumulated playing time at second base, shortstop, and center field.
