Foreign Minister Park Jin to Attend Central Asia Forum in Turkmenistan

SEOUL - South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin will visit Turkmenistan next week to attend the 16th South Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum.

According to a new release by the Yonhap News Agency, the forum will take place in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat on Nov. 1. The forum aims to bring together approximately 200 officials from diverse sectors to discuss sustainable growth across areas like transportation, health, climate change, IT, and education.

Park plans to hold bilateral discussions with his counterparts from the five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—that are participating in the forum. He is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow. Park will be the first South Korean foreign minister to visit Turkmenistan since the establishment of bilateral relations in 1992.
