SINGAPORE, The following is the gist of a joint statement that U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed after holding summit talks on Tuesday in Singapore.
The two leaders:
-- agree to establish a new U.S.-N. Korea relationship.
-- agree to join their efforts to build lasting peace and a stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
-- commit to recovering remains of prisoners of war and immediate repatriation of those identified.
-- commits to provide security guarantees to North Korea.
-- reaffirms his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
United States and North Korea
-- commit to hold follow-on negotiations led by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and a relevant North Korean high-level official at the earliest possible date to implement the outcomes of the summit.
