Gov’t Explores Cybersecurity Collaboration with NATO and Indo-Pacific Partners

Prague: The foreign ministry has announced discussions aimed at enhancing cybersecurity cooperation with NATO member states and Indo-Pacific partners. Youn Jong-kwon, Seoul's ambassador for international cybersecurity affairs, led these discussions during the Cyber Champions Summit (CCS) held in the Czech Republic on March 15-16.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Youn participated in a session jointly organized by South Korea, the United States, and Japan, focusing on addressing cyber threats posed by North Korea. He also engaged in bilateral meetings with representatives from the U.S., Japan, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and NATO to exchange insights on current cyber threat trends, including those related to artificial intelligence (AI).

The ministry emphasized its commitment to bolstering cybersecurity collaboration with NATO and Indo-Pacific partners to effectively counter the rising challenges in the cyber domain. The CCS, initially launched in Lithuania in 2023, serves as a multilateral platform for discussions on cybersecurity and cyberdefense, bringing together NATO member states and key partners.
