Halloween stampede: Peru expresses solidarity with South Korea

LIMA, Oct 31 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Peruvian Government —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— expressed solidarity with the Government and people of the Republic of Korea following the tragedy that occurred in the Itaewon district on Saturday.

Via Twitter, the government also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured citizens.

The Peruvian Embassy in the Republic of Korea deeply laments the events that occurred in the Itaewon district during the celebration of the Halloween party on Saturday night. 153 people have died so far.

Similarly, the diplomatic mission reported that, after the respective inquiries with the corresponding authorities and the process of verifying the identities of victims, it has been informed that no Peruvian citizen is among the deceased.

Lastly, the Embassy expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims, wishing that those who are still hospitalized may have a speedy recovery.

At least 153 people died in a stampede at a Halloween event in Seoul.
