Hanwha Eagles Re-sign Pitcher Ricardo Sanchez for Second Season in KBO

DAEGU: The Hanwha Eagles have confirmed the re-signing of Venezuelan pitcher Ricardo Sanchez for his second season in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO). The Eagles announced that Sanchez agreed to a one-year deal, valued at up to US$750,000, which includes a base salary, signing bonus, and potential incentives. In a file photo provided by the Hanwha Eagles, Sanchez is seen pitching in a regular season game against the Samsung Lions in Daegu.

According to Yonhap News Agency, In his debut season, Sanchez made 24 starts, posting a 7-8 record with a 3.79 ERA across 126 innings. He achieved a notable strikeout-to-walk ratio, ranking eighth among pitchers with at least 100 innings pitched. With Sanchez's signing, the Eagles have now filled all three of their foreign player slots for the 2024 season, having previously re-signed pitcher Felix Pena and acquired hitter Yonathan Perlaza. KBO regulations allow each team to sign up to three foreign players, with a maximum of two pitchers. As the new season approaches, other KBO teams are also finalizing their foreign player signings, with several teams still in negotiations to complete their rosters.
