Hanwha Ocean Secures $125 Million Ammonia Ship Order from Oceania
SEOUL - Hanwha Ocean Co., a shipbuilding subsidiary of the Hanwha Group, has announced securing a contract to build an ammonia carrier worth 163 billion won (approximately US$125 million). The order, which comes from an undisclosed client in the Oceania region, marks a significant achievement for the company.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hanwha Ocean, previously known as Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. before its acquisition by Hanwha Group, is set to complete the construction of the ammonia carrier by September 2026. This latest contract contributes to the company's impressive year, with $3 billion worth of ship orders received so far, achieving 43 percent of its annual order target of $6.98 billion. The deal underscores Hanwha Ocean's expanding footprint in the global shipbuilding market, particularly in specialized vessels like ammonia carriers.
