Seoul: Hyundai Motor Group announced its impressive achievement of winning 32 accolades at the iF Design Awards this year, highlighting the competitive edge of its vehicle designs.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the prestigious iF Design Award, managed by iF International Forum Design GmbH since 1954, assesses entries based on originality, impact, and innovation.
Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. clinched 21 and 11 awards, respectively, spanning eight categories. These categories include product, professional concept, interior architecture, communication, and user interface. The group emphasized in a press release that this accomplishment showcases the unique design philosophies and progressive vision of Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia. A company official noted, "We will continue to deliver new value and customer experiences through differentiated design."
In the product category, Kia's purpose-built vehicle PV5 was awarded the coveted Gold Award, an honor given to only 75 designs out of approximately 10,000 entries globally. The PV5 stood out for its practical packaging, distinct exterior design, and adaptable "open-box" interior concept, reflecting Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy. Other notable winners in the product category included Hyundai's Ioniq 6 N and Kia's EV4 and EV4 hatchback.
In the professional concept category, Hyundai's Furnished Lounge and Add Gear, alongside Kia's PV5 WKNDR and EV2, were recognized. Hyundai also secured two awards in the communication design category for its short thriller film "Night Fishing," set at an electric vehicle charging station. The iF Design Award is regarded as one of the world's top three design awards, along with the Red Dot Award and the International Design Excellence Award.
