Hyundai and Kia Set Record High Sales in Europe for 2023
SEOUL: Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. announced a record-breaking performance in the European vehicle market in 2023. The companies reported a combined sale of 1,106,467 units last year, marking a 4.3 percent increase from the previous year. This achievement surpasses their earlier record of 1,065,227 vehicles set in 2019.
According to Yonhap News Agency,The data, sourced from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), indicates that Hyundai and Kia's European sales exceeded the 1 million mark for the third consecutive year. Hyundai's sales grew by 3.1 percent, while Kia experienced a 5.4 percent increase. Despite a slight decrease in market share, Hyundai and Kia maintained their position as the fourth-largest automaker in Europe, trailing Volkswagen Group, Stellantis, and Renault Group. The success is attributed to the strong demand for their SUV and electric vehicle models, including Hyundai's Tuscon and Kona SUVs, as well as the Kona and Ioniq electric vehicles.
