Hyundai Motor Group Unveils Global Innovation Center in Singapore

SEOUL - Hyundai Motor Group announced on Tuesday the completion of its Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), a facility dedicated to the development of new human-centered mobility technologies. The inauguration ceremony for this state-of-the-art center was held recently in Singapore's Jurong Innovation District.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the ceremony was attended by notable figures including Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, South Korean Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun, and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung. The center, which began construction in October 2020, faced delays in its completion, originally scheduled for the end of last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

HMGICS, positioned as a test bed for future mobility solutions, focuses on research and development in technology, manufacturing, and business processes. The complex, spanning approximately 44,000 square meters, combines small-scale manufacturing facilities, research and development workspaces, office spaces, and customer experience centers in one building.

The innovation center commenced operations earlier this year, producing Hyundai's Ioniq 5 and autonomous taxi models. It boasts a production capacity of over 30,000 electric vehicles annually, marking a significant milestone in Hyundai Motor Group's commitment to advancing human-centered mobility technologies.
