Seoul: Hyundai Motor Group has announced the deployment of a series of innovative robots at its recently renovated headquarters in Seoul. This initiative is part of the company's efforts to enhance employee convenience and establish a robot-friendly environment within its workspace.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the robots introduced include the DAL-e Gardener for landscaping, DAL-e Delivery for beverage transportation, and Spot, a security robot developed by Boston Dynamics, a subsidiary of Hyundai. These robots are designed to streamline various tasks within the headquarters, reflecting Hyundai's commitment to advancing physical artificial intelligence (AI).
The DAL-e Gardener is equipped with advanced sensors and cameras, enabling it to recognize spaces in three dimensions. It assists in landscaping by precisely watering plants with its robotic arm, capable of vertical movement and six-axis rotation. Meanwhile, DAL-e Delivery facilitates beverage transportation from a lobby cafe to designated pickup zones on each floor. Employees can place orders via a mobile app, and the robot, which can carry up to 16 drinks, uses facial recognition to ensure accurate delivery.
Spot, the security robot, features a four-legged design and an autonomous driving module, allowing it to patrol the building efficiently. This deployment aligns with Hyundai's broader goal of integrating robots into the daily operations of its headquarters, promoting a seamless coexistence between humans and machines.
The renovation of the building's lobby space, completed in March, covered five floors and about 36,000 square meters. Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung emphasized that the renovation aimed to foster communication and innovation among employees. During a town hall meeting, Chung stated, "Innovative ideas are hard to come by when you stay in one place. I wanted to prioritize communication and create a space where employees can collaborate more closely with one another."
