K-pop Group BLACKPINK Honored with MBEs by King Charles in London

LONDON: Members of the popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK received honorary Memberships of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in London on Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The MBEs were presented by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. The group was recognized for their contributions to combating climate change, particularly their role as ambassadors for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in 2021. The members, Rose, Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie, were acknowledged for their efforts in raising awareness about climate change issues.

The K-pop stars were also guests at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday evening, which was held in honor of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon Hee. The banquet was part of the state visit commemorating the 140th anniversary of bilateral relations between South Korea and Britain.
