SEOUL, – San Diego Padres infielder Kim Ha-seong has filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul against a fellow South Korean baseball player for alleged blackmail.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the complaint was lodged last month, stemming from an incident that occurred two years ago.

The officials revealed that Kim accused the player, a former colleague in South Korea, of persistently demanding money following a physical altercation during a drinking session at a Seoul bar. This demand continued even after the player had already received a significant settlement amount.

Kim, as the complainant, underwent questioning by the police the previous day, and the investigation will continue as per standard procedures.

Summit Management, Kim’s agency based in Seoul, confirmed the filing of the complaint and Kim’s interaction with the police regarding this case. The agency’s official stated that they would refrain from commenting further as the investigation is underway and would provide more information depending on the progress of the case.

Kim began his professional career with the Kiwoom Heroes in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and transitioned to Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2021. He notably achieved a significant milestone in November by becoming the first South Korean player to win a Gold Glove in MLB.
