SEOUL– The local comedy film “Extreme Job” has exceeded 2 million in cumulative views in local theaters, a market tracker said Sunday.

The movie directed by Lee Byoung-heon attracted 995,195 cinemagoers Saturday, the highest daily box-office number for January of all time.

The previous record was set on Jan. 1, 2018, by the local fantasy blockbuster “Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds,” the first installment of the two-part series that hit cinemas at home and other Asian countries.

It took only four days for “Extreme Job” to pass the 2 million threshold, a pace faster than six days for two other hit comedy flicks, “Miracle in Cell No. 7” (2012) and “Miss Granny” (2013).

Starring Ryu Seung-ryong, Lee Ha-nee and Jin Seon-kyu, “Extreme Job” revolves around a team of anti-drug cops who open a fried chicken joint to stake out an organized crime ring.
