SUWON, South Korea – KT Wiz player Kang Baek-ho has been ruled out of the upcoming Korea Baseball Organization postseason series due to an oblique injury sustained during a scrimmage on Thursday.
According to a new release by the Yonhap News Agency, Kang suffered the injury at KT Wiz Park in Suwon while the team was preparing to face the NC Dinos in the second round of the postseason series starting next week.
Kang was subsequently taken to a hospital for further tests, where he was diagnosed with a tear in the right oblique muscle. “It will be difficult for him to play in the postseason,” said Wiz manager Lee Kang-chul in a post-scrimmage press briefing.
Though Kang’s recent seasons have been marked by lower performance and anxiety issues, he remains an important asset to the team, particularly for his power batting from the left side. In 2021, Kang had set career-highs with a .347 batting average and 102 RBIs. However, injuries limited him to just 62 games last year, and he played in only 71 of the team’s 144 games this year.
