SEOUL-- Kumho Tire Co., South Korea's second-biggest tiremaker by sales, said Tuesday that it continued to suffer an operating loss in the third quarter of the year, but successfully narrowed it on the back of improved sales in overseas markets.
The tiremaker logged an operating loss of 230 million won (US$206,000) in the July-September period following an operating loss of 23 billion won the previous quarter and a loss of 28 billion won in the first quarter.
Sales increased 6.3 percent on-year to reach 755 billion won in the third quarter, it added.
Net profit reached 48.2 billion won in the third quarter of the year, swinging from a loss of 32 billion won a year earlier.
