BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Yonhap) -- The top diplomats of North Korea and China will hold talks in Beijing this week on bilateral relations and regional security conditions, the Chinese government announced Tuesday.
North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho plans to make an official visit here from Thursday through Saturday at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to Wang's spokesperson Geng Shuang.
During his visit, Ri will meet with Chinese leaders to exchange opinions on issues of mutual concern, such as Beijing-Pyongyang relations and the Korean Peninsula issue, Geng said.
It's expected to play a positive role in efforts by the two sides to develop their ties and strengthen communication and cooperation, he added.
Ri is reportedly on a visit to Syria after traveling to Vietnam.
