N. Korea’s Kim Jong-un Lauds National Potential at Party Anniversary Events

Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has praised the efforts of those involved in the recent celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), emphasizing that these events showcased the country’s potential and strength.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim attended a mass gymnastic and art performance titled “Long Live the Workers’ Party of Korea,” where he extended his congratulations to participants who contributed to the anniversary events. The celebrations, which took place on the eve and day of October 10, included a military parade attended by international dignitaries, such as Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Vietnamese leader To Lam, and Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.

The military parade was notable for the display of North Korea’s new Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile, marking its first public appearance. This missile is reportedly capable of reaching the U.S. mainland. Kim expressed gratitude to the event participants, acknowledging their dedication and efforts in demonstrating the nation’s cohesion and strength.

Kim further remarked on the enthusiasm and passion evident during the celebrations and noted the international attention they attracted. Despite challenging weather conditions, he commended participants for their impeccable performances, which highlighted the cultural and powerful aspects of the state.

The gathering, which included officials, soldiers, and other nationals, appears to be aimed at fostering unity and enthusiasm within the party. This comes in preparation for a party congress anticipated to occur in late 2025 or early 2026.
