N. Korea’s Kim Jong-un Seeks Stronger Relations with Vietnam in Message to Leader

Hanoi: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has conveyed his hopes for the continued strengthening of friendly ties between North Korea and Vietnam in a message to Vietnam's leader, To Lam. This message was reported by Pyongyang's state media, highlighting Kim's aspirations for deepening bilateral relations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim's remarks were included in a reply message sent to the chief of Vietnam's Communist Party. The message was a gesture of gratitude for Lam's congratulations on Kim's reelection as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) during the party congress held last month. Kim emphasized his belief that the cooperative relations between the two parties and countries will continue to strengthen in the pursuit of their common socialist goals.

Kim also noted that Lam's heartfelt congratulations serve as significant encouragement to the WPK's efforts in advancing the socialist cause. The recent party congress, which lasted a week in February, saw Kim reelected as general secretary, with a focus on fortifying North Korea's nuclear deterrence under his leadership.

In a previous meeting in October, Kim and Lam held summit talks in Pyongyang, where they agreed to foster high-level exchanges and elevate their bilateral relations. This ongoing dialogue underscores the mutual commitment of both nations to enhance their partnership.
