North Korean men are increasingly wearing traditional Hanbok attire on their wedding day.

North Korea’s weekly Tongil Sinbo recently reported on the trend at weddings in Pyongyang.

“It is as if we are seeing Korean people’s wedding customs from history,” it said.

“One can easily spot grooms posing for pictures with brides in their traditional clothes across the city.”

In the past, brides wore Hanbok while grooms wore suits. The bride and groom then usually travel around attractions for pictures on their wedding day.

Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers’ Party, said: “Our party is holding fast to national traits in all areas of social life and is at the forefront of acclaiming the excellence of our people, in line with the needs of modernization.”
