JEONJU: A confrontation at an official ceremony attended by President Yoon Suk Yeol led to the forceful removal of opposition lawmaker Rep. Kang Sung-hee. The incident occurred at a ceremony marking North Jeolla Province as a special self-governing province. Kang, a member of the Jinbo Party, was carried out by presidential security agents after a dispute involving the President.
According to Yonhap News Agency,Videos showed Kang being removed while shouting and resisting. Kang later claimed he was asking President Yoon to change state affairs principles and complained of being gagged and having his glasses taken. A presidential official described the incident differently, stating that Kang shouted and refused to release the President’s hand, creating a security hazard. The official criticized Kang’s behavior as crossing a line and disrupting the event.
