Pohang, South Korea – POSCO, South Korea’s largest steelmaker, has announced the full normalization of operations at its Pohang factory following a fire incident. The company confirmed the resumption of activities early Sunday after dealing with the aftermath of the fire.
The fire, which started around 7 a.m. on the previous day near a blast furnace at the steelworks in Pohang, located 262 kilometers southeast of Seoul, was controlled after approximately two hours. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. However, the incident led to a temporary suspension of several mills due to a triggered blackout. POSCO has assured that there will be no major impact on production following the incident, signaling a swift recovery and resumption of their steel manufacturing operations.
