SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will hold their regular high-level policy consultative meeting in Seoul next week over North Korea's nuclear program and bilateral nuclear safeguard cooperation, Seoul's foreign ministry said Thursday.
Seoul's Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs Kang Jeong-sik and Massimo Aparo, the head of the IAEA department of safeguards, will lead the seventh round of the meeting Monday.
"At the upcoming meeting, the two sides will have wide-ranging discussions over ways to optimize IAEA safeguards, South Korea-IAEA safeguard cooperation and other issues," the ministry said.
South Korea and the U.N. nuclear watchdog have held the high-level talks since 2013 as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral strategic communication.
During his visit, Aparo is scheduled to meet Lee Do-hoo, South Korea's top nuclear envoy.
