SEOUL, The South Korean government expressed hope Thursday for a peaceful resolution to the latest Palestine crisis in which dozens of protesters were killed by Israel's use of force.

A total of 62 Palestinians were killed and more than 3,000 others injured during the two-day rally that started Monday in the Gaza Strip. It coincided with the controversial opening of the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem.

In a statement, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for the relevant parties to cooperate with the international community's campaign to bring a permanent peace to Israel and Palestine on the basis of a "two-state solution."
