SEOUL, Oct. 4 (Yonhap) — A South Korean resident of Indonesia, who went missing after a powerful earthquake last week, was found dead Thursday, Seoul’s foreign ministry said.

The man, who lived in Bali, had traveled to the central island of Sulawesi, which was devastated by the 7.5-magnitude quake and ensuing tsunami. He was identified only by his surname, Lee.

His body was discovered under the debris of a hotel there, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The death toll rose to more than 1,427 as of Thursday, according to local authorities.
