SEOUL, The top South Korean and Thai diplomats will hold talks in Seoul this week on ways to strengthen ties between the two countries, Seoul's foreign ministry announced Tuesday.

The meeting between Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and her Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai, slated for Thursday, comes as Seoul is making constant efforts to improve relations with the Southeast Asian bloc.

Their talks are expected to serve as a "chance for consultations" on the development of relations between South Korea and Thailand, a key partner for the Moon Jae-in administration's drive for reaching out to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, as well as Seoul's ties with ASEAN, according to Noh Kyu-duk, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
