Seoul Medical Student Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Girlfriend
Seoul – A 25-year-old medical student has been referred to prosecutors on charges of murdering his girlfriend, who allegedly intended to break up with him. The incident occurred last week on the rooftop of a building in southern Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the suspect, identified only by his surname Choi, stabbed his girlfriend to death around 5 p.m. on May 6. Choi, a student at a prestigious medical school in Seoul, remained silent when approached by reporters as he left the Seocho Police Station this morning.
Police investigation revealed that Choi might have premeditated the murder, as he purchased a knife two hours before the incident and changed his clothes immediately afterward. Autopsy results indicated that the victim died from excessive bleeding due to stab wounds. In light of the victim’s family’s concerns about privacy, police have opted not to reveal Choi’s full identity. Authorities are also planning to conduct a psychological evaluation on Choi as part of the ongoing investigation.
