Seoul – A cold wave advisory is set to be issued in Seoul on Thursday evening in anticipation of a sharp temperature drop, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) announced. The advisory, effective from 9 p.m., comes as the morning low on Friday is expected to fall to minus 3 degrees Celsius, a decrease of more than 10 degrees. Cold wave advisories are issued when the morning low reaches below minus 12 degrees Celsius for more than two consecutive days, or when there is a drop of more than 10 degrees to below minus 3 degrees Celsius.
According to Yonhap News Agency, in response to the impending cold conditions, the Seoul metropolitan government has activated emergency plans. These measures include enhanced monitoring of facilities for potential damage and increased support for the elderly and other vulnerable populations.
