Seventeen and NewJeans Clinch Top Honors at the 38th Golden Disc Awards in Seoul

SEOUL: At the prestigious Golden Disc Awards, a major event in the K-pop industry, boy group Seventeen and girl group NewJeans emerged as the winners of grand prizes in the album and digital song categories, respectively. This year's ceremony was notably held in Jakarta.

Seventeen received the coveted Album of the Year award for their 11th EP, "FML," at the 38th Golden Disc Awards ceremony. The group achieved significant recognition, securing a total of four trophies. These included two main prizes (Bonsang) in both the album and digital song divisions, and an additional main prize won by their unit BSS in the digital song category.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this accomplishment represents a pinnacle in their career. Member Mingyu expressed their collective honor and joy, saying, "We have always told ourselves that we should run toward the peak. We're honored and feel great as receiving this feels like reaching the ultimate peak." Seungkwan added, "We'll do our best so we can be a hope to many people. We'll work harder to the point where we ask ourselves if we should work this hard and will continue to do music stupidly, honestly, and passionately."

On the digital song front, NewJeans won Best Digital Song for their megahit "Ditto." Member Haerin, in the group's acceptance speech, expressed gratitude for the support they receive during performances. "We're grateful every time we perform on stage for many people who like and listen to our music and are with us," she said. "We'll continue to keep delivering more songs like these, so please enjoy them with the same passion."

The Golden Disc Awards also recognized emerging talent. The Rookie Artist Award was given to boy group Zerobaseone and Fifty Fifty, a girl group that has gained international attention with its hit single "Cupid."
