Shinsegae DutyFree Collaborates with Cathay Group for Mileage Program

SEOUL, South Korea - Shinsegae DutyFree, South Korea's third-largest duty-free retailer, has announced a partnership with the Hong Kong-based Cathay Group. This collaboration aims to boost sales through Cathay Group's mileage program.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Shinsegae DutyFree entered into an agreement with Cathay Group, allowing passengers of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., an airline affiliate of the group, to utilize their mileage points at Shinsegae's duty-free shops. Additionally, these passengers can earn miles when shopping at these stores, as stated by the company. This partnership marks the first time a South Korean duty-free shop has joined forces with a foreign airline for marketing purposes.

Starting in February, Cathay Pacific passengers will be able to shop at Shinsegae's three duty-free locations in South Korea. They can also use the mileage points earned from purchases at approximately 90,000 stores of Cathay's 800 global partner companies, as per the company's statement.
