South Korea Confirms New Case of Avian Influenza in Muan

SEOUL: The South Korean government reported a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) at a duck farm in the southwestern county of Muan. This latest case involves the H5N AI strain and affects approximately 33,000 ducks.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this incident marks the 26th case of highly pathogenic AI at local farms this winter season. The first case was reported in December after an eight-month hiatus. In response, health authorities have implemented quarantine measures, including the culling of ducks at the affected farm, and have issued a 24-hour standstill order through Friday morning.
