South Korea to Unveil Asian Cup Squad in Final Week of December

SEOUL, The Korea Football Association (KFA) has announced that South Korea's roster for the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup will be revealed in the final week of December. The national football federation made this announcement on Monday, setting the stage for the team's preparation for the tournament scheduled from January 12 to February 10, 2023, in Qatar.

According to Yonhap News Agency, head coach Jurgen Klinsmann will disclose the team roster about two weeks before the start of the tournament. South Korea is aiming to secure its first Asian Cup title since 1960. The roster is expected to include players from both the domestic K League and European leagues. European-based stars like Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur and Lee Kang-in of Paris Saint-Germain are anticipated to be key members of the team. Klinsmann's selection process will focus on identifying K League players who can complement the team. The national team will convene for a training camp near Seoul with K League players, as the European league players are currently in the middle of their season. The team is set to travel to Abu Dhabi on January 2 for a pre-tournament camp, including a tune-up match on January 6. Most Europe-based players will join the team in Abu Dhabi. South Korea is slated to play Bahrain, Jordan, and Malaysia in Group E of the tournament, aiming to advance from a group stage that includes six groups of four nations each.
