SEOUL - Foreign Minister Park Jin met with Botswanan Foreign Minister Lemogang Kwape on Wednesday to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, according to a statement by the foreign ministry.
Yonhap News Agency reported that during the talks in Seoul, Park highlighted the rising interest among South Korean industries in Botswana, especially after the African Continental Free Trade Area came into effect. Park urged greater efforts to expand trade and investment between the two nations and solicited Botswana's support for South Korean companies looking to enter the Botswanan market.
Kwape reciprocated by expressing his country's willingness to collaborate in materializing the bilateral cooperation discussed.
Additionally, Park extended an invitation to Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi for the South Korea-Africa summit slated for 2024 in Seoul. Park also sought Botswana's backing for South Korea's bid to host the 2030 World Expo in its southern city of Busan.
