South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo Calls for Swift Action Against African Swine Fever

SEOUL: Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has ordered immediate quarantine measures in response to the recent outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in South Korea. The emergency directive followed reports of ASF at a pig farm in Yeongdeok County and another outbreak in Paju, near Seoul.



According to Yonhap News Agency,Han’s office confirmed that he mandated quick quarantine and culling actions at the affected farms. Additionally, the Prime Minister called for the rigorous management of a temporary standstill order for farms around Gyeonggi Province and Cheorwon County. The instruction came while Prime Minister Han is in Switzerland attending the World Economic Forum, highlighting the urgency of the situation and the government’s commitment to containing the spread of ASF in the country.
