Seoul: The Korean series “The 8 Show” has achieved the number one position on Netflix’s weekly chart for non-English TV shows.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the series, which premiered on May 17, attracted 4.8 million viewers from May 20 to May 26. The dark comedy thriller, which stars Ryu Jun-yeol and Chun Woo-hee, is an adaptation of Bae Jin-soo’s Naver webtoons “Money Game” and “Pie Game.” It features eight contestants trapped in a multi-level arena where they compete in a reality show for a significant cash prize, making alliances and rivalries as they strategize to win the game. “The 8 Show” also marks the directorial debut of Han Jae-rim, known for his work on films like “The Face Reader” and “The King.”
