Trump Nominates Iverson as Deputy Commander of Pacific Air Forces

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated the deputy commander of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) to serve as the deputy commander of U.S. Pacific Air Forces, the Pentagon announced Monday. Lt. Gen. David Iverson is set to take on his new role at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump's nomination of Iverson follows the recent nomination of Maj. Gen. David Shoemaker for promotion to lieutenant general and to serve as the USFK deputy commander. Both nominations are pending Senate confirmation, which is a standard procedure for military appointments of this nature.

Since January 2024, Iverson has held various senior positions in South Korea. His roles have included deputy commander of USFK, commander of the Seventh Air Force, and commander of the Air Component Command under the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command. His extensive experience in these leadership positions is expected to aid in his new responsibilities within the Pacific Air Forces.
