Twins Edge Out Tigers for 2nd Straight Win in KBO

Seoul: After losing their first three games of the season, the LG Twins have now won two straight games. Starter Lachlan Wells threw six innings of one-run ball in his season debut, as the Twins defeated the Kia Tigers 2-1 in their Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) showdown at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Thursday. The Twins improved to 2-3 before a sellout crowd of 23,750, while the Tigers dropped to 1-4.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Tigers drew first blood in the top of the second inning when Park Min's two-out single off starter Lachlan Wells cashed in Jarryd Dale, who had reached with a single and moved to second on a groundout. It was the fourth time in five games that the Twins gave up the opening run this season. The Twins punched right back in the bottom second with Cheon Seong-ho's RBI single off Kim Tae-hyeong to draw even at 1-1.

After the Tigers wasted a bases-loaded opportunity in the top of the fourth, the Twins put three men aboard with one out in the bottom half of that inning. They cashed in the go-ahead run with Gu Bon-hyeok's high chopper to second baseman Kim Sun-bin, who only had time to throw out Gu at first as Park Dong-won scored easily from third for a 2-1 Twins lead. That held as the final margin of the game, though there was some drama in the ninth.

Twins closer You Young-chan issued two walks in that frame to put the tying run at second and the go-ahead run at first with one out. But the right-hander escaped the jam by getting Han Jun-su to fly out to left and Park Min to ground out to second. Wells, back in the KBO with the Twins after a short stint in 2025 with another Seoul-based club, Kiwoom Heroes, scattered seven hits and struck out two. The Australian left-hander threw 60 of his 83 pitches for strikes and didn't walk anyone with his four-pitch mix featuring four-seam fastballs (37), curveballs (19), sliders (14), and changeups (13). The Tigers outhit the Twins 7-5 in the losing cause.
