Two Police Officers Injured in Knife Attack Near Seoul’s Defense Ministry Compound

SEOUL: An incident occurred near the defense ministry compound on Tuesday when a 77-year-old man attacked two police officers with a knife.

According to Yonhap News Agency, identified only by his family name Park, initiated the assault at around 1:20 p.m., stabbing one officer in the abdomen and the other in the left arm. Both officers were immediately transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Park was arrested at the scene following the incident. The compound where the assault took place also houses the office of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Authorities have announced an investigation to ascertain the motive behind the attack and to check whether Park has a history of mental illness. “Police plan to seek an arrest warrant for thorough investigation,” said an official.
