YG Entertainment’s New Girl Group Babymonster Makes Debut with ‘Batter Up’

SEOUL - Babymonster, the latest girl group from YG Entertainment, has officially made its debut with the digital single "Batter Up." The group's introduction marks YG Entertainment's first new girl group since the debut of BLACKPINK seven years ago.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "Batter Up" was released at midnight, featuring a dynamic track that blends YG's signature hip-hop style with a powerful build-up. The song's title, which refers to the next batter in baseball, symbolizes the group's ambition to bring a fresh perspective to the music industry. Babymonster comprises seven members from three Asian countries: South Korea, Thailand, and Japan. The members, Ahyeon, Haram, Rora, Pharita, Chiquita, Ruka, and Asa, were selected through an open competition. Notably, the song credits include member Asa, AKMU's Lee Chan-hyuk, Treasure's Choi Hyun-suk, and YG's chief producer Yang Hyun-suk. The group expressed their joy and anticipation, stating, "We're really happy because today is the day when we come to realize our long-cherished dream. We did our best so we could show our own color that hasn't been seen before."
