SEOUL — Police have taken action against two individuals accused of leaving derogatory notes at the site of a fatal car accident in central Seoul that resulted in nine deaths and seven injuries earlier this week.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a man in his 20s voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Thursday after his derogatory message, left amidst the floral tributes at the crash site, gained attention online and was reported in the media. Another man, in his 40s, was identified and booked by police earlier that day for a similar offense. Both are facing charges of defaming the deceased. Additionally, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s cybercrime unit has initiated a probe into three online posts that also ridiculed the victims, aiming to uncover the motives and circumstances behind these acts.
