This call to action aims to fortify both nations' capabilities against emerging threats from North Korea and to expand their strategic partnership into the space domain.
According to Yonhap News Agency, who spoke during his change-of-command ceremony at Osan Air Base, located 60 kilometers south of Seoul, the expansion of space-related collaborations is essential. The U.S. military established U.S. Space Forces Korea in December 2022, aligning with South Korea's recent upgrade of its squadron-level space unit into the Space Operations Group. Patrick underscored the importance of unity between the U.S. Space Force and the Republic of Korea (ROK) in addressing space-borne challenges. Patrick, previously the director of the Space Operations Centre at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, highlighted the critical nature of these collaborative efforts in ensuring both nations' security and operational readiness in space.
