PYONGYANG - Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, issued a stern warning about the severe consequences South Korea could face if it continues to allow defectors to send anti-Pyongyang propaganda across the border. According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim stated that North Korea would have no choice but to modify its response tactics if the leaflet distributions persist. The warning follows the discovery of 29 large balloons laden with such materials in areas near the inter-Korean border.
According to Yonhap News Agency, condemned the actions as "dirty play" and highlighted the findings of "dirty leaflets and things" in 17 different locations within North Korean territories. The state media also showed unusual images of these leaflets being burned, indicating a sharp rise in tensions. In retaliation, since late May, North Korea has released over 2,000 balloons filled with garbage into South Korea, mirroring the actions taken by defectors from the South.
